ABOUT MELANIE

When I was growing up, I used to dream of working in a massive corporate building, with windows, and a corner office on Wall Street. That dream quickly crumbled when I became a 16-year-old high school student carrying a backpack and a baby.

There were so many fun late nights with friends that I missed as I raised a baby and worked two jobs to bring in just enough income to make ends meet. The weight of responsibility was heavy, and while I was proud of my resilience, it often felt like I was missing out on life’s simpler joys.

Growing up with a single mother, I learned resilience and independence early on. I believed financial freedom was the key to long-term happiness, a mindset shaped by societal pressures that equate more work and money with true success.

Balancing multiple jobs and commitments, I found myself perpetually caught in the grind. I wrestled with maintaining an equilibrium between my responsibilities and personal well-being, often failing to grant myself permission to set boundaries and recognize that I deserved a moment to simply prioritize my own needs.

THE REALIZATION

I learned quickly that the constant hustle and grind can deplete you to the core when there isn’t a healthy balance in between. The key word here is: healthy.

I skipped meals. I lost sleep. I worked additional nights and weekends. I couldn’t disconnect. I took on too much. I was always tired. I couldn’t give my best. Frankly, my happiness was lost.

In the midst of the everyday hustle and grind, it can be easy to lose sight of who you are. The constant hustle mindset cost me countless hours of precious time that I could have saved if I knew how to prioritize my passions and hustle for my own happiness.

I realized that true success isn’t measured by the size of your bank account or the number of accolades you accumulate. It’s about living in alignment with your values, pursuing goals that resonate with your soul, and finding joy in the journey rather than the destination.

My journey spans decades of personal triumphs and professional milestones. These diverse experiences have shaped my perspective, equipping me with a renewed approach to overcoming life's obstacles and staying focused on true internal happiness and well-being.

THE MISSION

The desire to take on more can lead you to eventually give less in areas that matter most. While it’s important to stay focused on your goals, it’s also important to not get so caught up that you lose your soul.

Burnout isn’t just about feeling tired—it’s a state of chronic stress that depletes your energy and diminishes your passion. When you’re stretched too thin, you’re more likely to experience decreased productivity, emotional fatigue, and a sense of disconnection from the things that used to bring you fulfillment. It’s not just about pushing through; it’s about recognizing when you need to step back and restore your balance.

Fueled by my own story, I founded Hustle Happiness—an initiative aimed at flipping the script on hustle and happiness. It's a call to action, highlighting the importance of finding a healthy balance in the everyday hustle and not losing sight of your happiness in the shuffle.

This philosophy is also the heart of my book, an invitation to embrace self-discovery. Within the pages, uncover the power to craft the life you deserve. Even when happiness feels sidelined, you have the power to reclaim it.
